These Are Our Stories

We’re a community of 20-to-30’s on a journey – an expedition to go deep with God and to see how we can be the fingerprints of Jesus helping this world find hope.

Expedition_Group_Picture_LargerWe’ve found there are multitudes of broken people everywhere crashing and burning. Our focus is to care for the individual and as a result we hope to see the multitudes healed and restored. In this rapidly changing world we are finding ways to be missional, purposeful, and deliberate with our actions so God is made famous.

Progress

I try to talk to God about Saturday night get-togethers…always asking Him to bring those He wants. So many said they were coming and with some new ones, I expected it to be big. Mr. K was coming too and I knew they would like having him there. Only 4 showed up. I admit I was a bit disappointed but we had a good discussion about how our world was made- definitely deciding that a “higher intelligence” must have controlled it’s formation. We decided that next week we would discuss man and why we are here. The following week we will look at the Bible and what God has to say.

Today, as my Russian lesson was to begin, Sarah, on who faithfully comes on Saturday, asked what I did on Sunday. When I told her she asked me why when she goes to her place, she feels nothing. I shared that I used to feel that way too but then I met Jesus and it has changed my life. She wants to come with me next time. What a privilege it is to be here and to talk with and about God and know that it is all under his control. Thanks for talking to God for me too.

Family of God

By: Noel: Senegal
Hey this is Noel from West Africa. I am doing well. I am writing you an update because I have some very exciting news. Please welcome Adora to the family of God. God has been moving in my classroom recently and has been laying a lot of different things on my heart.

It’s so easy for us to assume that missionary kinds are Christian. But as different discussions came up in my class, I came to realize this is far from true. We can’t assume any body is Christian because of their family association. But I do have some students are very strong Christians.

I realized I needed to teach my students what we believe and why we believe in it. I had half the class research Christianity and half the class research Animism (one of the religions here). The next day I had them debate. My students were challenged to explain Christianity. I got many different answers. God made me realize I need to take a week to build a unit on Salvation. Yesterday was the first lesson of the unit.

Adora came to me after the lesson and wanted to talk to me. We went outside and as she started talking, she started crying over her sin. She had true conviction. She realized she needed a Savior. And she put it all into her own 9 year old words. We prayed right then and there. She had joy all over her face for the rest of the day. Praise God for His work here!
