United World Mission launched Expedition 237 in 2006 as a strategic initiative to invest in the lives of the next generation of missionaries.
We desire to serve a generation of believers with a heart for Christ and a desire to use their gifts and talents in cross-cultural work.
" I believe many people from this generation have a heart to do something that can have an impact for Christ. Yet, many also are not sure exactly how. That’s why Expedition 237 makes sense. They know that the best way to find out is discover their fit is in the process of being there!"
- Keith Keller, director of Expedition 237
Keith and Rachel had a heart for seeing the name of Christ exalted among the nations, yet neither of them had ever been out of the country. Upon graduation from college and after getting married they decided that the only way to know God¹s fit for them in missions was to go and experience it first hand.
Their journey led them in 1994 to Ukraine, one of the newly formed breakaway republics of the former Soviet Union. The adventure in Ukraine was hard and their faith was stretched, but they loved it!
It was during those two years that they discovered how God had gifted them with the talents, skills, and faith that He would use by His grace for His glory.
One of the main keys to success of Expedtion237 is that you are not in it alone. The two year test drive is lived out along side others in community and with a mentor that will help you each step of the way.
We are confident that these hands-on opportunities to serve the least reached and along side missionary mentors will also help you explore how God has shaped you for your role in the Great Commission.
We want to be a part of something that is happening among our generation all across the world. We’re here because we want to be part of the solution to an age old problem – brokenness. We’re here because we have hope and a desire to become uncommon followers – to show the living Jesus to a damaged world.
We want to join with people from many different backgrounds and cultures so that the nations have a chance to worship our great God.
We work in communities around the world expanding horizons of university students, taking the gospel in mountain villages, engaging the lost gospel message to a secular Europe, and trying to live a life like Jesus lived. And we’re doing all this with the passions God planted in us and the skills He helped us learn.
