UWM Covenant with the Church

We believe that the local church is God's number one instrument for world evangelization, and that our mission is to assist the church in fulfilling its missional calling. There are a number of collaborative possibilities for local churches and United World Mission - one is by facilitating strategic long-term missionaries on the field. United World Mission makes a number of commitments to local churches that partner with us by sending missionaries.

We covenant to:

• Share resources for mobilizing your church for missions

• Include the church in the missionary assessment and  appointment process

• Provide excellent pre-field training for your missionaries

• Provide a mentored internship for the language acquisition process and cultural adjustment of first-term missionaries

• Prioritize team development and strategic thinking for field ministries

• Practice pro-active field leadership and consistent ministry accountability with a focus on results

• Send annual missionary performance and development evaluation to sending church leadership

• Provide pastoral care for missionaries in cooperation with home churches

• Include the church in major decisions regarding their missionary's ministry

• When strategic, develop church partnerships with nationals and missionary teams

• Provide effective and efficient administrative services for missionaries, churches, and donors
