The Rescue

As Wendy listened to the beautiful piano music drifting from our living room to the kitchen, she smiled with contentment. One of the things Wendy does best is hospitality. People feel comfortable around her. Cared for. This day was no exception. Julie, a student, at an Estonian university seemed to be pouring out her heart and soul through music…and it was glorious. Later Wendy offered tea and asked a simple question, “How’s it going?”. “Not too well” replied Julie. “I’m think I might be pregnant from my father raping me.” Over the next three hours a sordid story of ritualistic Satanic abuse poured out of this beautiful flower of a young woman. Her mom is a witch as his her grandmother. As part of their twisted practice, Dad regularly abused his daughters. This one was running for her life. Over the next year and a half we took Julie in, cared for her, protected her and fought spiritual battles on her behalf. Eventually a plan was devised to smuggle her out of her current life to a completely different location. As a result Julie is in full-time ministry. She seems to have a bottomless pit of love for those whom society has thrown away. Having lived on the streets as a teenager to escape her parents, she has seen and done it all. She KNOWS what she is talking about. Through her countless people have come to Christ. And it all started with a simple invitation for tea…. Wendy continues to run a rescue operation in Estonia – and its needed. The Estonian family is so fluid. Divorce is the norm and young men and women need spiritual mothers and fathers. For all the great plans and ministry strategies we’ve employed, this one – rescuing one person at a time has dramatically changed the course of three people’s lives forever…and they are bearing fruit for Jesus!
