resources for the journey
“Having never before served overseas as a missionary made me consciously aware of what I didn’t know. Like many new missionaries there is a gap between where I am and where I want to be but the bigger gap is one of knowledge and experience.”

“CIT may have been the longer way to the field, but it is also the way that will keep us on the field for a long time!”
- Missionary to Costa Rica
The Center for Intercultural Training, which started with one student in 1989, has consistently had one goal in mind: to train and equip you and your family as an effective and stainable missionary or cross-cultural volunteer for a lifestyle of intercultural work and ministry. CIT is a Partnership of missional minded cross-cultural groups, agencies, churches and organizations working together to this end.
Due to the high ineffectiveness and loss of personnel during their first term as missionaries and volunteers, CIT strives to build cross-cultural awareness and skills in a community-based learning environment, giving attention to the personal, spiritual, and family needs of their students so they will not only survive in a cross-cultural setting, but will truly thrive and adapt in different cultural environments and ever changing surroundings.
Being able to adapt and cope cross-culturally is only half of the goal of missionary training. CIT exists so that missionaries and other cross-cultural workers will be effective in their service for Christ. To accomplish the task that God has called us to do is the ultimate purpose for training.
CIT provides a number of programs for those seeking training information. We invite you to explore our Web site to discover how we can best meet your training needs. Meet our trainers and partners, and take a look at our programs and training values. And feel free to contact us if we can serve you in any way!
