A Life Saved

Abe, a 21 year old, was about to commit suicide when an old friend of his "happened" to drop by in 2004. This old friend was so mean, that although there were wanted posters with his picture on it, none would turn him in because they were too scared. Abe had lost his wife to suicide and the police had tried to force him, his dad and his younger brother to confess to killing her because her dad was very influential. Although all were badly beaten only the younger brother was tricked into confessing and he hopes to get out of prison in 2007. The family could not find the $1000. USD needed to pay off the judge to release Abe's innocent brother.

Abe confided to his old friend that he would end his life as this was unbearable and had everything planned. The old friend (who had become a believer recently) told Abe that he was a little late... someone had already died for him. "What" exclaimed Abe, "who did that?" That night and over the next days he and his dad and mom all gave their hearts to Jesus who died instead of Abe.

Abe, and two other young men spent 2 weeks with me this month to work on a building project ...as there is so little work here now. What a blessing it was to spend time with these young believers learning from them and teaching them some construction skills that will serve them well as they raise their families and serve Jesus Christ. I had the opportunity to have two of them in our school last year. Would you pray for these three men and their families as they learn to support themselves as well as expand their churches? What a blessing it is to be a part of seeing the church building a foundation for the future. May God grant them grace as they serve the King even when it is tough. All of this is true, by the way. Abe told me that he is so happy that God allowed all this to happen... now he has hope and a future.

A huge part of our work is to train believers to feed their family and then be a blessing to others both believers and non. We are discussing how we can make this training more practical. Pray with us as we expand this business training into a number of cities this year. We need groups who will take on a city and pray with us to see the work established there for the Kingdom.
