A Retreat to Remember

The recent Senior High Retreat will go-down in the memory of all the High School students as the night that everything changed. It was originally going to be a time for us to split up into class groups and discuss some of the major problems that they saw in the classes but it turned into an entire worship service focused on music and confession.

I knew that the group had many hurting students in it, because I have been working with many of them and I could feel the tension mounting as we began singing. It was like watching a water balloon fill up and get bigger and bigger. It had only one option, to explode and the Spirit ripped through those hurting kids and yanked on the sins that bore them down and as the shackles fell kids poured down to the front to just beg God's forgiveness. Dozens of them were weeping and asking me to pray for and with them.

After many of the students had found their needed confession and prayer before God they turned to their fellow students and publicly requested forgiveness and some proclaimed their first profession of faith and their desire to turn from a life of acting like they had always been a believer. It was an honor to be there and see God answer our prayer.
