Baptismal Blessings

The board of elders at our church met with Danielle recently as she had asked to be baptized. She had been waiting many years to be baptized because she wanted her husband, Andre, to join her in this public commitment to Christ. Although Andre had gone through the pre-baptismal classes with her, he was still unfazed. At one point she started crying because he was not budging, but she finally got tired of waiting and decided to go on ahead without him.

One evening before our Sunday service, Andre called me and asked if he could see me because he had questions concerning baptism. I immediately drove over to his place and we talked for about 2 hours. He did indeed have questions, but our conversation concluded by him saying, "okay, I would like to be baptized". Danielle called me the next day to tell me that after recent weeks of tension, peace had suddenly entered her house. She was elated.

That Sunday, Andre gave a clear and powerful testimony. He is rather shy but I noticed that after the baptism he was talking to folks and sharing his story with them. He took a stand that day and certainly made a public profession of faith by his baptism.
