Emphasis on Training

Adequate training is foundational to long-term effectiveness in ministry. United World Mission equips missionaries to understand culture and to think strategically about the missionary role. We equip Christians around the world for church planting, church leadership and cross-cultural ministry. Our training philosophy begins with the local church as the primary training center and the lost world as the primary context for ministry. We develop character and spiritual integrity along with the practical ministry skills required by the task.

United World Mission is a "learning organization." We value the contribution of every missionary in shaping our corporate knowledge base through what they are learning by experience on the field. This corporate knowledge contributes to our pre-field missionary training at the Center for Intercultural Training (CIT) and to leadership's input to field strategy around the world. We take a learning posture before the Lord, who is our ultimate teacher, and with our national partners.

United World Mission draws on the resources of CIT in Union Mills, NC. CIT exists to equip missionaries and other Christian professionals for cross-cultural living and ministry. Due to the high attrition of first term missionaries, CIT strives to meet the emotional, spiritual and family needs of their students.  The goal is for the students to not only survive in a cross-cultural setting, but to truly thrive in a different cultural environment.
