Our Values
United World Mission's Values
We
hold ourselves accountable to core values that we believe
are biblical and essential to fulfilling our mission in the
world.
Church:
Serving the church in everything we do. We believe that
God's primary way of doing His work on earth is through the
church. The church is the people of God sent on a mission
for God in a lost and broken world. We exist to serve and
strengthen our sending and host churches so that they fulfill
their calling to make disciples of all nations.
Facilitation: Helping others succeed in ministry. Reproducible models of ministry that lead to church multiplication require national initiative and leadership. Our best role is to facilitate the ministry of others so that indigenous ministries flourish and multiply. We resist building dependency upon ourselves and seek to help others take the lead. We are servants who come alongside others to help them be effective and successful in accomplishing God's purpose.
Training: Equipping God's
servants for ministry. Adequate training is foundational
to long-term effectiveness in ministry. We equip missionaries
to understand culture and to think strategically about the
missionary role. We equip Christians around the world for
church planting, church leadership and cross-cultural ministry.
Our training philosophy begins with the local church as the
primary training center and the lost world as the primary
context for ministry. We develop character and spiritual integrity
along with the practical ministry skills required by the task.
Integrity:
Living in the truth and doing what we promise. Integrity
means that what you see on the outside is consistent with
what is on the inside. For United World Mission image isn't
everything. What's important to us is that we are real and
authentic people who can be trusted. Integrity also means
doing things right and avoiding short-cuts that compromise
our values. It means being honest and living in the light
of the truth. We strive for authenticity and transparency
in our relationships with God and each other.
Interdependence:
Working with others in teams and partnerships. We
believe God has made us incomplete without each other, and
that accomplishing His purposes requires the unity of the
body of Christ. Some ministry tasks can be accomplished by
individual efforts, but making high impact for Saturation
Church Planting requires the cooperative and interdependent
efforts of many. We value the synergy and accountability that
come through purpose-driven teams and partnerships. We believe
that God is honored and His purpose advanced as we partner
with others in the body of Christ.
Innovation: Embracing creative
initiatives that advance our purpose. We will not compromise
the Gospel and the unchanging truths of God's Word, but we
will be flexible and innovative in our strategies and our
approach to ministry. We don't do things simply because we
have "always done it that way." We measure what we do by our
values and whether it is strategic for accomplishing our purpose.
We give each other room to try new things - even to fail.
We seek team members who will think and work in creative,
innovative ways.
Accountability: Evaluating our efforts and reporting to our partners. We value accountability because we care about our effectiveness in accomplishing our purpose. We are committed to measuring results and evaluating our strategies so that we can adapt and change as necessary. We want our churches and donors to have a strong sense of participation with us, so we are committed to reporting to them the results of our efforts.
