Croatia

Croatia is a rich country going through a period of intense poverty. Its war with Serbia has left it vulnerable to future fighting. In this relatively unstable environment, churches are being planted. A United World Mission team has been resident since the spring of 2003 and has been networking and researching the existing missionary population as well as the growth of local churches. The team has identified existing models of church planting and are envisioning for church planting, while also mentoring church planters. The goal is a reproducing movement of church planting.

United World Mission is actively working to field additional personal into this country.

Having spent almost five years on another United World Mission field before God and the KGB moved us along, we are now United World Mission's first team members in Zagreb, Croatia. We are working to envision, influence and train the existing church toward a reproducing church planting movement in Croatia. We are concentrating on encouraging and mentoring current and future church planters, as well as building bridges between people and denominations.

We are passionate about seeing the national church "own" a vision and implement a plan for saturating Croatia with churches. We are also looking for creative ways to help the Croatian church become self-sustaining and become a sending force to the nations. We like to think of ourselves as outside-the-box thinkers, team players and pesto aficionados. United World Mission's home office thinks of us as "those people who write the weird newsletters."

We not only are working to facilitate this church planting movement in Croatia but we are Area Directors who oversee work in several sensitive regions of the world. We recommend that anyone who likes strong coffee, spectacular coastlines, outdoor sports and fattening desserts visit Croatia.
