United World Mission has had a presence in Russia for over ten years, with many missionaries working throughout the country in an effort to see disciples made and the church strengthened and established amongst all of Russia's people groups. The teams work with influencers (leaders), assisting them in the development of mature and reproducing churches.

The end objective of reproducing church planting movements is the same everywhere, though different strategies are employed to accomplish this; envisioning, training church planters, training trainers of church planters, mentoring, research and curriculum development.

The Russian team first approached me to come and assist them with resource development. As team leadership spoke about their new church development ministry, we found that my background and experience in worship could meet a growing concern in the Russian church, using the arts in worship. Having experience in marketing and financial development, being active in worship at a local church, and through study of the culture of the Russian church and music, I am prepared to help the team achieve their goals in resource development and assist the national church in the area of worship.

Since joining the Moscow Team last summer, I have been immersed in the development of the English Exchange. The English Exchange is a creative ministry initiative designed to reach the unreached Muscovite. This first year we are using our time to move slowly ahead with the program and at the same time evaluating the paths of greatest positive results. English has been tried and at time used successfully, but in general it has not met with great success. We hope to change that by learning from the past and following the recommendations of recent cultural studies.

Moscow is a global city that has seen too many western evangelists who just come to hand out material and try to get new converts with out building real and lasting relationships. This has caused a callus view of the Gospel. Our work centers around assisting national churches in developing creative ministry initiatives focused on building relationships with young Muscovites searching for something real and true.
